GE Appliances plans to invest $50 million in Greenville County, according to a press release from Greenville Area Development Corporation.
The investment, GE Appliances’ second investment in South Carolina, will create the company’s new distribution center and is expected to create 45 new jobs over the next five years.
“The favorable business climate of South Carolina and Greenville County and our proximity to inland Port Glia make it an ideal location to build a state-of-the-art distribution center to support our growing business.
The investment is tied to a replacement commission (FILOT) agreement that requires GE Appliances to invest at least $50 million in Greenville County over the next five years. The FILOT agreement has passed two of the three votes required by the county legislature, and his third and final ballot could take place next week.
GE Appliances currently operates a Camden water heater manufacturing facility that opened last year.
The new distribution center will be located in the Augusta Grove Business Park, according to the release. The expansion is expected to be completed by the first quarter of 2024.
