Kern County’s industrial real estate market continues to make great strides as three companies expand their operations in the area.
This followed Orange County’s Bakersfield poacher M8 Systems a few weeks ago.
Big picture: Kern County’s three new industrial expansions come from Santa Monica developer The Wonderful Company and two Texas companies teaming up for further development at the Taejon Ranch Commerce Center.
- Wonderful Real Estate has announced the pre-lease of a 310,000 square foot distribution facility in Shafter, Wonderful Industrial Park. The tenant is Building Materials Manufacturing Corporation, doing business as GAF, a New Jersey-based roofing company.
- According to a Bakersfield Californian report, Santa Monica investor Sheldon Appel has been active in the Meadowsfield Airport area for several years and is developing a series of spec buildings next to an Amazon fulfillment center.
- Two Texas companies have also exercised an option to purchase the 600,000-square-foot Dollar General Distribution Center near Grapevine and build a more than 1.1 million-square-foot specification building at the Taejon Ranch Commerce Center.
What they say: This new demand for industrial real estate in Kern County shows what a strong future holds as the area continues to attract and grow businesses.
- Tejon Ranch spokesman Barry Zoeller told Californians that the new development will continue to attract new tenants and investors to the commercial center.
- “It certainly validates our location, shows a proven superior value proposition, and that major players in the market are bullish on continued demand for TRCC’s logistics space.
